Getting the Shots: The Truck Wash

In the course of our Emporia photo shoot, we did have one memorable miscommunication.

The folks from another team asked if we could shoot a scraper while we were there. We said sure, expecting the land-leveling, ground-moving type of equipment. Unfortunately, they were talking about a free-stall scraper, made for cleaning manure off concrete. Free-stall scrapers are mainly used in dairy barns, something there aren't many of in Eastern Kansas.

So we found ourselves on a desperate search for cow manure on concrete*.

Well, we found some. At a truck wash– a truck wash where they clean out cattle trucks after they drop off the cows.

Glamorous, huh?

I did get a kick out of the the Honey Wagon, though.
They're for manure management. It's a euphemism if I've ever seen one.

(*And now, I never thought I'd on a search for cow manure on concrete, let alone a desperate one. Every day is an adventure.)
