Today in Deere History: Deere Day in Dallas

New Generation of Power Brochure Cover

50 years ago today, John Deere introduced the New Generation of Power in Dallas, Texas.

It was a day over 7 years in the making for Deere. Starting in 1953, engineers from Waterloo works sent countless hours redesigning tractors from the ground up. Their mission was in part to move Deere away from the old Johhny Popper 2-cylinder, but what they came up with were the tractors that built John Deere into the company it is today.

Our Heritage Marketing Group has a great write-up of the event in the latest edition of The Plowshare with a great write-up of the event and the role it played in John Deere's history. There's also a big event– The John Deere Fall Festival— happening in Waterloo, IA from September 9-11, complete with factory tours and a tractor parade.

If you can't tell, lots of folks at Deere are still pretty proud of those tough old tractors– and with good reason.
